Video to iPod | Easiest Way to Convert Any Video to iPod

Posted by Patrick, 6 Comments

This is by far the easiest way to convert any video file (avi, mov, wmv, rm, rmvb, mpeg, 3gp, DivX, XviD, and basically everything else) to iPod and iPhone-ready MPEG-4 (.MP4) format. It’s an incredibly simple 2-step process that anyone can follow. It’s fast, offers a preview window, and can convert any regular video file into a number of iPod video formats that support every iPod device to date, including iPod Classic, iPod Nano, iPod Touch, and the iPhone. Because it’s so easy, iPod Legends is awarding the Cucusoft iPod Movie/Video Converter our first Editor’s Choice Award for 2009. Most video to iPod converters don’t work right for a number of reasons. Some have audio/video sync issues, some don’t work with certain video types, some come loaded with spyware or adware, and a lot just flat-out don’t convert your videos. Cucusoft’s iPod Movie/Video Converter really stands out from the rest of the pack because it’s safe, it’s easy to use, and it converts any video perfectly every single time. Read on to download the program and use the tutorial, and have fun watching any video you want on your Apple iPod/iPhone device.
Below, you will find a link to download the program, and a step-by-step tutorial to walk you through everything.

Video/Movie to iPod Converter Program:

Install the program, and then follow these two easy steps:

Step 1: Click “Open File” as shown in the image below, and simply select the video file you want to convert to iPod format. It will load into the program quickly, and you can play the video using the on-screen controls if you want before converting it to iPod format.
Optionally, you can also change the output video type by clicking the drop-down “Profile” arrow. This allows you to convert video to your specific iPod device, like iPhone, iPod Touch, etc. in higher quality if you want. For all intents and purposes, the default MP4 setting is all you’ll ever need.

Step 2: Click the “Convert” button and the program will convert your video file to iPod format in a few seconds, depending on the size.  Our test video was a 4 minute 2 second long .avi file (a standard music video) and took only 17 seconds to convert to iPod format.  Once it’s done, you can open the output folder (c:\ConverterOutput by default, you can change it) and just drag and drop the video file into iTunes so you can transfer it to your iPod.

It doesn’t get much easier than that. Enjoy watching your videos on your iPod and/or iPhone!  We hope that this tutorial and easy-to-use program helps you take full advantage of your iPod or iPhone’s video-playback capabilities, as it’s truly one of the best and most useful features Apple included on the devices.  Not taking advantage of this defeats the purpose of buying a video-enabled iPod or iPhone.

If you want to get the program instantly or unlock the trial version, then click here to buy Cucusoft iPod Movie/Video Converter. It’s cheap, we fully recommend it, and iPod Legends has awarded the Cucusoft iPod Movie/Video Converter its first 2009 Editor’s Choice Award of the year.  It’ll easily become the best $29 bucks you ever spent on your iPod should you choose to buy it or unlock the trial.

Does this format/program have any issues with playing on Apple TV?

It is completely compatible with Apple TV. Apple TV will play back video in either MPEG-4 (.mp4) or H.264 format, both of which are available as conversion options using the above converter. However, the resolution of the files you encode using this program are lower than the max resolutions for Apple TV, and they won’t look as high quality because they are meant for an iPod-sized screen. If you want to convert to the max Apple TV quality, which is H.264 1280×720, then try using Cucusoft’s Apple TV Video Converter instead. You can choose “Apple TV (1280×720) H.264″ from the “Profile” drop down menu and it will convert your video to the higher-quality Apple TV format. Just be aware that those videos won’t play on an iPod because they are too big. You can download the free trial of Cucusoft’s Apple TV Video Converter at the following link and try it out: Download: Cucusoft Apple TV Video Converter

Does this convert the video files into iPod Touch screen size? Is there an option?

Yes it does, and you can choose various settings for the original iPod as well, if that’s what you want. They have pre-set “profiles” for various devices, and one of them is for the iPod Touch / iPhone screen. You can also change the settings manually.
