Download: Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter

This is pretty much the easiest way to get a DVD movie on your iPod, iPhone, or iPad that we’ve come across. It’s idiot proof and takes just 2 clicks before it starts converting.

Before we found this program it took a good hour and a half or two hours, depending on the movie, to convert the DVD over to the right format, and more than half the time it just didn’t work. I used a ton of programs in the past that just refused to get it right, with problems like audio/video sync or crashes in the middle of conversions. After we tested Cucusoft’s DVD to iPod Converter, it became our Apple devices’ best friend, and I have a feeling it will become yours too. We awarded the Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter our 2008 iPod Legends Editor’s Choice Award and we continue to use it into 2012 for our iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads.

Below, you will find a link to download the program, and a step-by-step tutorial to walk you through everything (not that you need it…).

Tutorial

DVD to iPod, iPhone, and iPad Program:

Tutorial:

Install the program, and then follow these steps:

Step 1: Click on “Open DVD” on the bottom left corner (Look at the screenshot below). A window will popup. Select the DVD that you inserted into your computer. The program will fast forward to the menu and your DVD will start playing. At this point, you can choose which device you’re converting the movie for by choosing the right “Profile” in the drop down menu – Cucusoft works for iPods, iPod Touches, iPhones, and iPads, so just make sure to click the one you want. Next, click on the round “Convert” button on the right. A window will popup. Name your DVD and click “Yes”

At this point, Cucusoft will start converting your DVD. When it is finished, a window will popup.

Step 2: The window that pops up will look like the screenshot below. Select “Open iTunes and output folder to upload the output file(s)” and then Click “Next.” All you need to do now is put it on your iPod.

Wasn’t that easy? I hope you enjoy watching your DVDs on your iPod. If you want to get the program instantly or unlock the trial version, then click here to buy Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter. We fully recommend it, and iPod Legends has awarded the Cucusoft DVD to iPod Converter its 2008 Editor’s Choice Award.

I’ve been looking for something like this for an age. Before I purchase (trust me – funds are very limited!) will this convert any dvd to ipod? And can I use to watch dvd’s after on my laptop other than through iPOD. I would really appreciate any help.

  • 10 Verinox // Feb 17, 2009 at 3:16 pm

It will convert the vast majority of DVDs, and I personally haven’t found one of my own DVDs that it hasn’t worked with. In addition, as new technologies are released that enhance the way DVD discs store data, Cucusoft regularly updates their products accordingly, and updates are free for life once you purchase it.

As for watching it on a laptop, an mp4 file will play in just about any media player (Windows Media Player, QuickTime, etc.). However, if you’re laptop has a DVD player, I would just play the disc through there since the quality will be higher. Since the video you are converting is sized for an iPod-sized screen, it will look a little fuzzy on a bigger laptop screen.

Does anyone have any settings that work the best for them. I want the best quality possible for my ipod touch and I know their are some options but I don’t know what things should be set at besides the default settings. Thanks

    Dan

The best setting is H.264. On the “Profile” dropdown menu, just select iPod Touch H.264.

A program that is supposed to convert DVD files to iPod playable files that doesn’t work on Mac??! iTunes is a Mac based program for an Apple created portable device…the iPod!! That is crazy! And ahh, those who advise getting a PC have obviously never used the brilliance that is a Mac. Sorry.

there are mac versions available for this, and we’ll be doing a write-up very shortly.

The tuturoial is incomplete, I managed to download 6 movies to my hard-drive, and they are sitting on my HD under “cucusoft/converter output” however they did not move into my iTunes acct and I am unable to move them into iTunes, which is where I need them, in order to sychronize to my iPod, what am I doing WRONG?

  • 23 chrispy // Jan 5, 2013 at 2:33 pm

Any news on the MAC version of this program, I have both PC & Mac. My PC is on its way to computer heaven and I prefer my iMac, I would love to be able to move my DVD movies (which I paid for and own) onto my Ipod and iPad.
