I just read a post on the iLounge Forum that was rather interesting. Apparently someone got tree sap on their iPod. So what is the best way to remove sticky substances from your iPod? Well, the one that provided results was nail polish remover. Also a note made by some posters, try water first, then alcohol, and then use solvents/cleaners as a last result. Solvents such as Goo Gone tend to eat plastic and may damage your iPod.
Try these other methods first:
1) Find a piece of tape with relatively strong adhesive. Place it and remove it from the iPod repeatedly until everything comes off.
2) If that doesn’t work, get a rubber eraser (note: Has to be a rubber eraser. Some erasers can leave smudges on your iPod.) and gently “erase” the sticky substance off.
3) Use rubbing alcohol and a soft paper towel to gently remove the sticky substance.
Try these options first before moving on.
If NOTHING above works, use nail polish remover, Mineral Spirits, or Goo Gone. I have not personally tested Mineral Spirits or Goo Gone, and recommend them only as a last resort.
